Honey's BBQ...First taste test

Went to Honey's for the first time tonight. As you might guess this place is NOT for vegetarians, but for the meat lover it is just right (they do have green beans, but my guess is that they put bacon in it).

They have whole racks of ribs, half racks, large and small rib tips, whole and half chickens, and dinner combos of everything (includes 2 sides). One thing they didn't have on the menu board yet, but they told me about, was the pulled pork sandwich. I chose to get the sandwich (which was $4.19 with tax). You have your choice of mild, medium, and hot BBQ sauce. I chose the hot, which has a kick that builds up over time. It was a pretty big pile of pulled pork, done right in my opinion (but I'm no BBQ expert) with very little fat or greasiness.

They have brightened the place up quite a bit. Much nicer than the Tin Star (why would you want to eat in a jail cell?). Still not much seating, but I'll be getting things to go most of the time anyway.

I'll be trying the other menu items soon, so check back for updates.

Honey's BBQ...

The former Tin Star now has a new name...Honey's BBQ. They have placed a banner over the old sign, apparently waiting on the new one to show (considering how slow the rest of the project has gone it may be quite a wait). The banner/sign says "Now Open", but they don't look all that open.

I received a card from them in my mailbox..."Rib Tips, Chicken, Ribs, Baby Backs". Meat, Meat, Meat. This will not help with my weight loss.

Biscuits--update

I noticed tonight that "Biscuits" has a sign up in their window, and it is going to be a breakfast and lunch restaurant. Will have to try it out once they open.

Stationery Store

The last rumor I know of (via Liz at Big Hat Books), is the possibility of a stationery store going into the same store front as the small Patachou, and the French Pharmacy. Nothing concrete on that at the moment. May have to go sneaking around there and check it out soon.

Sandwich shop going into the former Ben & Jerry's

Was in Broad Ripple Saturday, and noticed that some construction was going on inside the old B&J's. I stopped by Big Hat Books, and the owner said she had heard that a "Dagwoods" sandwich shop was going in there. This is a "chain" out of Bloomington it seems.

It looked to me that they were still in the demolition phase, so it may be a few weeks before the new store takes shape.

Working on the Tin Star Again?

When returning home Sunday evening I noticed that work has resumed on the Former Tin Star. Looked to me like they were loading drywall into the place. Either they got their permits, or they are just going ahead with plans anyway. We'll have to wait and see.

Biscuits???

I was over at Sunflower Market this evening, and on my way out I noticed a new sign up on the strip mall. Something called "Biscuits", located in the space vacated by Milano's (next to the laundry mat). I would publish a photo, but there wasn't anything to take a photo of. They did have about 6 permits taped to the windows.

Will have to keep an eye on that spot.

Patachou Counter Culture

Just a bit more about the new venture for the Patachou conglomerate. We spoke again today with the staff, and picked up just a few details. Evidently, it will be a soup-and-sandwiches kind of place. Sounds about right for something called "counter culture." More surprising is the info that they may? will? have a beer and wine license. Hmm.

All unconfirmed at this point, but we'll see how things develop.

There's also a new coffee shop opening up in the village, close to the Brewpub. I will be heading up that way later today, so I'll try to get some info while I'm in the area.

New on Westfield

I asked about it at Patachou (49th and Penn) on Sunday. They knew about it, but claimed not to know what it was. Hmm.

Despite the secrecy, I'm sure we'll have details before long. It's an interesting location, and the other tenants will require investigation as well.
