Patachou Counter Culture

Just a bit more about the new venture for the Patachou conglomerate. We spoke again today with the staff, and picked up just a few details. Evidently, it will be a soup-and-sandwiches kind of place. Sounds about right for something called "counter culture." More surprising is the info that they may? will? have a beer and wine license. Hmm.

All unconfirmed at this point, but we'll see how things develop.

There's also a new coffee shop opening up in the village, close to the Brewpub. I will be heading up that way later today, so I'll try to get some info while I'm in the area.

New on Westfield

More doings on Westfield. This building is just east of Midtown Grill. There's a sign on the side of the building; it reads:

COMING SOON

French Pharmacy

Patachou
Counter Culture

RSVP

I asked about it at Patachou (49th and Penn) on Sunday. They knew about it, but claimed not to know what it was. Hmm.

Despite the secrecy, I'm sure we'll have details before long. It's an interesting location, and the other tenants will require investigation as well.

Gingko: Getting Closer

Gingko: Getting Closer

Looks like this will be a home design store. It will be interesting to see how it aligns/competes with its neighbors, as it's between Chelsea's and Turandot (and just down from The Bungalow). It's slated to open early in May.

Hail Ripple

Much going on in the village, and I have a few photos to post. But right now the biggest news is the storm that rolled through on Friday. Here's what happened:

We had quite a bit of hail, but the size was the problem. I measured hail up to 2". Many cars were damaged; some had windows smashed. Broad Ripple itself was without power, west of Winthrop. We ended up at O'Charleys in Glendale, and they'd had their neon signs smashed by the hail.

Looks like another storm is on the way. Let's hope there's no more damage.

Former Tin Star is still The Former Tin Star

There has been some construction going on at the location of the former Tin Star restaurant at the corner of Broad Ripple Avenue and Crittenden Avenue. This has been progressing on and off (mostly off) for about 9 months now. Rumor has it that it is to be a BBQ joint, but I was not able to find out for sure. This evening while walking by, and peeking in the windows (they have repainted, remodeled, and added some equipment), I saw a notice on the entrance. Unfortunately it was a "Stop Work" notice from the City/County. Apparently, whoever has been doing the work never bothered to get a permit.

Seems that the Tin Star will remain empty for some time to come.

New BBQ In The Village: Hoghead's BBQ

Looks like a new bbq place is going in. This is on Fergueson, across 65th from the Brewpub. La Piedad had moved in there while their usual place was remodeled, but now they're back. Website is www.hogheadsbbq.com.
